Chiranjeevi Hits Back at YSR

Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi on Friday said that unlike those who focussed on development in their native constituencies and districts, he was for all-round development because he had affinity for people across the State.

He was reacting sharply to criticism from Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and his son Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy in the recent past, asking what Mr. Chiranjeevi had done for Mogalturu, his native place in West Godavari district. Admitting that he could not spend long time in Mogalturu though he was born there, he said this was because his father was a government servant and posted elsewhere.

Interacting with presspersons on Friday morning after participating in a Children’s Day programme at the party office on Road No. 5, Jubilee Hills, he avoided taking the name of the Chief Minister directly, but pointed out that he would not be like ‘those leaders’.

Mr. Chiranjeevi would enter Kadapa district and Pulivendula Assembly constituency via Tadpatri after completing his road shows in Anantapur district, on November 19.

On Friday, he also named Katti Padma Rao as ‘ideological spokesman’ for the party.
