Chiranjeevi Vows Welfare Plans in Rayalaseema Praja Ankita Yatra

The Praja Ankita Yatra launched by the Praja Rajyam (PR) founder, Mr Chiranjeevi, in Anantapur district evoked good res-ponse from people. He tried to attract people by explaining scenes in his Indra movie produced in the backdrop of Rayalaseema factionism, but failed to speak about problems of the area and why people should vote for his party.

Mr Chiranjeevi’s meetings evoked good response in Hindupur, Lepakshi and Chilamathur. More Muslims attended his roadshows. Responding to the remarks of the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, that he would abolish welfare schemes, Mr Chiranjeevi said that he would continue all welfare programmes. Criticising the development claims of the government, he said potholed roads in the area reflected development.

Mentioning the Lepakshi knowledge city special economic zone, he questioned who would be benefited by the SEZs. Farmers of Venkatapuram, Chilamathur, Pathachamulapalli, Kothachamulapalli and Kodur areas submitted a memorandum to Mr Chiranjeevi that the SEZ would benefit them. Mr Chiranjeevi said that the PR would support those SEZs which benefited farmers.

As Mr Chiranjeevi’s visit in Anantapur district on Sunday evoked good response from people, the major political parties are discussing the likely effect of his tour in Kadapa district. The PR founder will enter the Kadapa district on November 19 and will also visit Pulivendula, the constituency of the Chief Minister.
