Increased Cost Of A/c Tickets

In the good old days cinema watching was considered the cheapest form of entertainment. In a poor country like India, a mass medium like films was a welcome means of entertainment. Cinema was not just a source of entertainment but also information. It was cheap and exciting.

But not anymore, thanks to the multiplexes and higher cost of living the ticket-rates have been increasing by leaps and bounds. In a recent development the prices of tickets in an air-conditioned theater have been increased by 10-15 rupees. The ordinary middle class Indian is increasingly finding it difficult to go to a theater and watch a film. The prices have become so prohibitive.

If a couple has to watch a film in a theater the cost would be nothing less than Rs 200. And by the virtue of black marketing, it may rise up to Rs 500 as well. Will these increased prices deter audiences from going to theaters? Only time will tell.
