MLA Elect Korla Revathipathi passes away In Care Hospital

SRIKAKULAM: A day ahead of taking oath as MLA representing Tekkali constituency, Korla Revathipathi died on Tuesday, while undergoing treatment for a heart attack at a private hospital in Visakhapatnam. He was 50.

The MLA-elect was admitted to the CARE Hospital on Sunday with a cardiac problem and was placed in the intensive coronary care unit. He had undergone a kidney transplant, but was keeping good health until his heart ailment surfaced.

He leaves behind wife, a son and three daughters.

He started his political career in 1986. In 1996, he joined the Telugu Desam Party and became MLA in 1999. He joined the Congress in 2005 and successfully contested from Tekkali in this year’s general elections. Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed shock and grief over the death of Revathipathi. In a message, Dr. Reddy described him as a ‘suave gentleman’ and ‘able’ party leader of Srikakulam district. The Chief Minister conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family.

In his condolence message, Mr. Naidu praised the yeoman service he rendered to the people and said it was sad that Revathipathi died even before taking oath as a legislator. In a message, Governor N.D. Tiwari expressed deep shock and grief over the passing away of the newly-elected legislator. The State, Srikakulam district and Tekkali constituency lost a selfless and dedicated leader, he said.
