Applications are invited for the following posts from bright and eligible Indian Nationals with excellent academic record, a high degree of motivation and desire to take up research in Earth Science as a career:

POST : Scientist Gr.IV
Pay Band-Rs.15600-39100 with Grade pay of Rs.5400/-
Reservation: S-01 to S-05 for „UR‟; S-06, S-07, S-08 for „OBC‟; S-09 for „PH‟ and S-10 & S-11 for „ST‟ (S-10 & S-11 are backlog posts).
Upper Age Limit: Should not exceed 35 years as on the last date for receipt of filled in applications.
Essential Qualifications: First class M.Sc. / M.Sc. (Tech) OR M.Tech. in Geophysics / Applied Geophysics/ Marine Geophysics from a recognized University.

Desirable: Ph.D. and/or Research experience. A proven track record of carrying out research as demonstrated by publication of research papers in high impact factor SCI journals in areas such as Ground Water Exploration/Hydrocarbon/Mineral, Seismics, Seismology, Tsunami and Earthquake Hazards, Heat flow, Theoretical Geophysics, Geophysical Logging, Time series analysis, etc.

Job Requirements: Participation in geophysical data acquisition, processing and interpretation (both in field and in the Laboratory) and involvement in major research programmes of the Institute.

POST : II. Scientist Gr.IV
Pay Band-Rs. 15600 – 39100 with Grade pay of Rs. 5400/-
Upper Age Limit: Should not exceed 35 years as on the last date for receipt of filled in applications.
Essential Qualifications: First Class M.Sc./ M.Sc. (Tech) OR M.Tech. in Geology/ Applied Geology.

Desirable: Ph.D. from a recognized university with a thesis topic that is relevant to Radiogenic Isotope Geochemistry and Geochronology. A proven track record of carrying out research as demonstrated by publication of research papers in high impact factor SCI journals. Substantial „hands-on‟ experience in a modern Mass Spectrometry-Clean Chemistry Lab.

Job Requirements: To participate in Geological and Isotopic data acquisition using LA-MC-ICPMS. Processing and interpretation, and to participate in major research programmes of the Institute.

III. Scientist Gr.IV

Essential Qualifications: First Class M.Sc. / M.Sc.(Tech) OR M.Tech. in Applied Geology / Geology.

Desirable: Ph.D. and/or Research experience in areas such as Geological field mapping/ structural Geology, Petrology and economic Geology with a proven track record of carrying out research as demonstrated by publication of research papers in high impact factor SCI journals.

Job Requirements: To participate in Geological mapping and undertake research in the area of Petrology, Structural Geology and Economic Geology.

POST : IV.Scientist Gr.IV

Essential Qualifications: First Class M.Sc. in Chemistry/Applied Geochemistry.
Desirable: Ph.D and/or research experience in Geochemistry and Geochemical analysis with a proven track record of carrying out research as demonstrated by publication of research papers in high impact factor SCI journals.
Job Requirements: To participate in Geochemical research involving sample collection and analysis using ICPMS/Gas Chromotograph, data interpretation and involvement in major research programs.

POST : V.Scientist Gr.IV

Essential Qualifications: First Class M.Sc./M.Sc.(Tech.)OR M.Tech. in Chemistry/Applied Geology/Geology.
Desirable: Ph.D and/or research experience in the area of Stable Isotope Geochemistry related to Paleo Climate & Paleo-environment. A proven track record of carrying out research as demonstrated by publication of research papers in high impact factor SCI journals.

Job Requirements: To participate in Geological, Geochemical mapping, sample collection, analysis using stable isotopic ratio mass spectrometers and data interpretation and involvement in major programs.

Job Requirements: To participate in formulation and execution of projects in Environmental Science involving field and Laboratory studies.

Job Requirements: To participate in formulation & execution of R&D projects pertaining to Geo-Hydrology and Ground Water research.

Essential Qualifications: M.Sc. (Maths) OR MBA(Finance) with minimum of 55% marks.
Job Requirement: To assist in day-to-day activities in PME/ISO Sections of the Organisation, participate in various project management & meetings, human resource development group, preparation of periodical reports and Budget Estimates, Convening Project Meetings etc.

Essential Qualifications: 1st Class Diploma in Civil Engg. of 3 years full time duration or its equivalent from a recognized Institution.
Desirable: Experience in estimation, execution of civil works, Construction and maintenance of buildings. Knowledge in Computer Operation.
Job Requirement: To assist Civil Engg. Group in day-to-day works.

POST : XV. Technical Assistant Group III
Pay BandRs. 9300-34800 with Grade Pay: Rs.4200.
Upper Age Limit : Should not exceed 28 years as on the last date for receipt of filled in applications
Essential Qualifications: 1st Class B.Sc., with M.P.C.
Desirable: Knowledge in basic computer applications.
Job Requirement: To assist various research programmes with regard to field and laboratory data acquisition and processing.

IMPORTANT:

01. Experience should be in the relevant area and according to the job requirement.

02. The age and experience will be reckoned as on the last date prescribed for receipt of completed application form.

03.The period of experience in a discipline or area of work, where prescribed, shall be counted after the date of acquiring the minimum prescribed educational qualification for the post.

General conditions:

01. The posts will carry usual allowances as admissible to CSIR employees. Higher initial pay may be considered in exceptionally meritorious cases. Incumbents are liable to serve serve anywhere in India or outside.

02. Relaxations: ( i ) relaxation of age to the SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates will be considered against the posts reserved for their category in accordance with the GOI/CSIR rules as made applicable to them, from time to time. The SC/ST/OBC candidates who apply for the general vacancies will not be eligible for age relaxation. (ii) age, qualifications and experience prescribed above can be relaxed in case of exceptionally meritorious
candidates with the prior approval of the Competent Authority.

03. Applications from the candidates working in Govt. Departments/ Public Sector
Organizations and Govt. funded Research Agencies will be considered only if
forwarded through proper channel (advance copy of application should reach before the last date ) and with a clear certificate that no vigilance case is being pending / contemplated against him/her and the applicant will be relieved within one month of receipt of appointment order.

04. Candidates may apply for
(i) Post Nos. S-1 to S – 5 in one application
(ii) for Post Nos. S-6 to S – 8 ( one application )
(iii) for Post Nos. S-10 & S-11 ( in one application)
(iv) for Post Nos. S-12 & S-13 (one application) and separate applications for all other posts indicating clearly the Advertisement number, Name of the Post and Post Number, accompanied by separate application fee wherever prescribed.

05. Application forms may be obtained from the “Controller of Administration, National Geophysical Research Institute, Uppal Road, Hyderabad – 500007 ” by sending a requisition together with a self addressed stamped envelope of (23 x 10cm.) bearing postage stamp of Rs.10 (Rupees ten) or in person on or before 20.11.2009. Requests for application form received after this date will not be entertained.

06. Application duly filled in and duly supported by attested copies of all relevant certificates including Community Certificate (in the case of SC/ST/OBCs candidates), certificate of physically handicapped issued by the competent authority ( in case of PH candidates), passport size photograph of the individual along with a non-refundable application fee of Rs.100/- ( Rupees one hundred only ) in the form of D.D. drawn in favour of Director, National Geophysical Research Institute, Hyderabad, valid at least for 5 months, should be sent so as to reach the Controller of Administration on or before 05.12.2009.

Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PH & Women candidates and regular employees of CSIR are exempted from payment of application fee.

07. Applications not accompanied by the relevant attested copies of certificates including semester-wise Memorandum of Marks sheet(s) will be summarily rejected.

08. Incomplete and unsigned applications as well as those received after the last date i.e. 05.12.2009 will not be considered.

09. A lower standard of suitability consistent with efficiency will be applied in the interview in respect of SC/ST candidates to the extent of posts reserved for them and in accordance with Govt. of India orders.

10. Mere fulfilling the essential educational qualifications and experience will not vest any right on a candidate for being called for interview. The applications will be short-listed and the decision of the Institute will be final.

11. The candidates called for interview will be paid to and fro single second class rail fare, by shortest direct route, from the actual place of undertaking the journey or from the place of their residence whichever is nearer to Secunderabad Railway Station, on production of Bus ticket/rail ticket number, as per GOI/CSIR Rules.

12. Canvassing in any form, and/or bringing in any influence, political or otherwise, will be treated as a disqualification for the post. Interim enquires will not be entertained.
