Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI)

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is a statutory body established under the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 (Act No. XXXVIII of 1949) for the regulation of the profession of Chartered Accountants in India. During its nearly six decades of existence, ICAI has achieved recognition as a premier accounting body not only in the country but also globally, for its contribution in the fields of education, professional development, maintenance of high accounting, auditing and ethical standards.ICAI now is the second largest accounting body in the whole world.

The task of counting of votes for the election to the Twenty-first Council and Twentieth Regional Councils has been completed at 10:55 P.M. on 1st January, 2010.

While taking this opportunity to thank the voters who had exercised their franchise in the just concluded election, I would also like to place on record the fact that this task could not have been completed in time and smoothly but for the sincere and hard work put in by my colleagues who shouldered all the responsibilities in the timely completion of the counting process and above all the support and cooperation extended by the candidates, their authorized representatives and their supporters.

The results of the said election will be notified in the Gazette of India dated 6th January, 2010.
